Die zehnte Weltnaturschutzkonferenz findet vom 18. bis 29. Oktober in Nagoya/Japan statt. Auf sie kommt im Internationalen Jahr der Biodiversität besondere Bedeutung zu. Das Scheitern der Weltgemeinschaft am 2010-Ziel, das Artensterben deutlich zu verlangsamen, ist allgemein eingeräumt worden. Nun geht es darum, aus der Blamage zu lernen, neue Ziele zu definieren, Maßnahmen zu vereinbaren und vor allem die Finanzierung dafür zu sichern.
Der NABU ist vor Ort, um gemeinsam mit seinen internationalen Partnern konkrete und zielführende Beschlüsse der Regierungen einzufordern.

I agree with the need to keep a clean environment, however I disagree with the approach.
Using violence, as proposed by this petition, as a means to protect species and ecosystems is unethical and will not curb the potential threat ecosystems as effectively or as quickly as a non-violent solution.
I also submit that the new "biodiversity" meme is propagated because of the PR failures for global warming and climate change. Biodiversity now encompasses "global warming" and much more.
